NEIGHBORHOOD FOOD SECURITY
Food security is being able to look out the window, walk or bike to your food source. At any given time, we are 60 days out from having a viable food source.

You can work on a food security plan in your neighborhood easily.  You don't have to wait for the whole neighborhood to get started! You can plant a few vegetables in anything that will hold dirt and will drain. Doesn't take many plants to feed a single family. Use old dresser drawers, barrels, old toilets, stacked tires, rusty wheelbarrows, wire 4 pallets together for a great planter.

So , think outside the box and if you come up with a cool planter send us a picture and we put it on the website!

SATURDAY MARCH 13th - Rebel Roots Vegan Dinner and Film Screening

Sedition Books and Rebel Roots vegetarian food collective invite you to a homemade vegan dinner and screening of the Academy Award nominated documentary "The Garden" projected in the friendly and beautiful surroundings of our own Emile St. Community Farm. For dinner we'll feature ingredients organically grown at Emile St., and during the movie we'll have delicious (and not so nutricious) homemade vegan theatre snacks - pretzels, candy, popcorn and sweet drinks! The dinner starts at 6 and the film after dusk, but Saturday is our work day at the farm, so come out early to help us weed, plant, and pick during the day. You know a hard day of work makes a night of fellowship and relaxing that much more sweet...

Sedition books is a radical bookstore serving Montrose and the Houston community at large with free internet, meeting space, lending library and guest speakers, authors, and musicians.

Rebel roots is a fledgling vegetarian food collective hoping to increase healthy food, education and community organizing in h-town. We're raising funds right now for Houston's first vegetarian taco truck/education station. Come out and give us your support.
